Market Radar · 24 Aug 2026 Fabrinet reported record sales, guided higher, and fell 23%.The average S&P 500 company fell about a third as much as the index itself. The selling was concentrated in AI hardware — chip-test and optical stocks — while 30-year Treasury yields touched their highest since 2007 and oil rose on tension with Iran. Moderna (MRNA) and Merck said their personalised mRNA cancer vaccine delayed melanoma coming back in a 1,137-patient trial, and Moderna more than doubled. Maravai Lifesciences (MRVI), which supplies mRNA ingredients, and Tempus AI (TEM), which sells cancer gene testing, rose alongside it. Fabrinet (FN), which builds optical parts for data centres, fell after record quarterly sales of $1.32 billion, up 45% on the year. |
